The Club was formed in late 2004 by a small group of fisherpersons trialling new techniques in lure fishing. This group also wanted to encourage "catch and release" as promoted by other groups and fishing organisations in educating the new, young and old fisherman in sustainable fishing.
Our Club welcomes new members including family groups young and old. A Club meeting is held on the first Thursday of each month at Port Macquarie City Bowling Club,Owen Street Port Macquarie. The Club organises one official outing per month followed by a Barbeque where all family members are welcome.
As our Club name implies we primarily target Bream and Bass in our monthly outings, we do this in line with the popular ABT and Pro Bream and Pro Bass events. We do however target other species again with the same catch and release policy.
The Hastings Bream and Bass Club actively encourages through its members and public forums catch and release principles in our efforts to preserve the future of fishing and sustainability of fish stocks for our children in coming years.

With the last fishing outings held and the Xmas party done and dusted, we start looking into the new year to start it all again. The club celebrated the end of year with a christmas party in usal fashion. Lots of fun and antics from members and a special appearance from Santa for the kids.
The club is seeing growth from current members bring their kids to new members signing up and joining in the fishing scene we love so much.
Starting Our - Craig Ainsworth
There is a line from the Television series "A River Somewhere", put together by Rob Sitch and Tom Gliesner where they say to the camera "my brother says people are attracted to accessory sports such as cycling because of all the different gear you can buy - fly fishing has a touch ot that", as he piles up all his fly fishing gear ready for the next trip.
Well the 2012 year is certainly well on its way to be finishing. The comps are running and the points are up for grabs. With events certainly throwing up a mix of exciting catches, members from the club have seen full bags to struggling with getting a bag at all. The club is growing, the outings are getting bigger and more juniors are being brought along.
